Abstract

Humanities education goes beyond standard teaching and is focused on a deep understanding of human nature, society, culture, and art. The goal of the study is to explore the practice of teaching humanities in higher education institutions with an emphasis on practical application. The importance of humanities education lies in the development of critical thinking, creativity, ethical values, and social responsibility. The methods used in the research involved a methodological approach emphasizing a qualitative perspective in educational research, including a dual analysis of data using academic papers and personal experience. The research results indicate that the development of humanities education in universities requires improving teaching methods, implementing innovative programs, supporting interdisciplinary research, and collaborating with practice. It is also important to ensure the accessibility of humanities education for all segments of society, support internationalization of educational programs, and encourage student exchange. The results show that the approach focusing on critical and reflexive functions is not widely used in the practices of university educators. The research analyzes the teaching of humanities and the future of higher education in practical classes. The results show that this approach is still present in future research practices and discourse. The development of humanities education in universities has a significant impact on shaping civil society, culture, and art, as well as fostering deeper international understanding and peace. In conclusion, educational goals related to teaching humanities in higher education aim at heritage and civic goals. Educational intervention aims at developing a sense of belonging, teaching responsible citizenship, and socializing students. It is important to develop critical thinking, intellectual autonomy, and the ability to ask questions in order to teach students to live together and understand and accept differences. Dialogue among educators supports these goals, emphasizing the importance of socialization and identity functions. However, it is important to raise questions about the concept of socialization in order to understand its true nature in modern society.
