Automated systems for checking academic integrity: a way to improve the quality of Ukrainian education

The purpose of the article is to analyze the role of automated systems for checking academic integrity in improving the quality of education in Ukraine. To achieve the goal, such research methods were used as the analysis of scientific sources and legal acts, the synthesis of the obtained information in order to form a general idea about the researched issue, comparison of the obtained data and generalization. As a result of the study, it was established that the development of modern society and the growth of the labor market's needs for highly qualified specialists emphasize the need to improve the quality of education at all levels. Academic integrity is a system of certain ethical principles and norms that all participants in the educational process must adhere to in their activities. Ensuring academic integrity is important for maintaining a high level of quality in the educational process and scientific activity. The basic principles of academic integrity were outlined. It was determined that automated testing systems open up new opportunities for knowledge assessment. The most common systems are analyzed, their main capabilities and functions are determined. With the spread of various Internet resources, plagiarism has become a serious problem in the educational field. To detect it, teachers actively use special software and automated systems. An important step in ensuring academic integrity in the educational environment in the era of the development of innovative technologies is the use of programs for identifying texts, in particular, based on artificial intelligence. The growing interest of the scientific community in issues of ensuring academic integrity in the age of artificial intelligence has prompted the development and implementation of specialized software that can detect texts created with the help of this technology. It is important to realize that no automated system can work independently, without human participation. Any platform is just a technical assistant, a convenient tool for checking academic integrity. A high level of education quality can only be achieved through cooperation and interaction between people and software products.
