Abstract

The purpose of the article is to investigate the peculiarities of forming metacognitive strategies as a means of improving the effectiveness of independent learning of students in the context of the transformation of the modern educational environment. A set of complementary methods was used in the research process. Analysis of scientific sources made it possible to identify the theoretical foundations and outline the existing approaches to studying the problem. To organize and visually present the data, a tabular method was used, which ensured the structure and accessibility of the information. The method of scientific abstraction contributed to the generalization of the results and the formulation of conclusions, allowing us to identify key points and form conceptual guidelines for the study. The results show that modern transformations in the educational environment require a review of traditional approaches to the organization of the educational process and a shift in emphasis from a teacher-centered model to independent cognitive activity on the part of students. The strengthening of the role of independent learning necessitates the development of learners’ ability to consciously manage their own educational trajectory. Metacognitive strategies are seen as means of developing learning autonomy, encompassing the ability to plan, monitor, control, and evaluate the results of one’s educational activities. Such strategies not only ensure deeper knowledge acquisition, but also contribute to the formation of reflective thinking, purposefulness, educational responsibility, and motivation for continuous development. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of pedagogical conditions under which the formation of metacognitive competence is most effective. In particular, this involves creating a reflective educational environment, involving students in project- and problem-oriented activities, introducing self-assessment tools, learning diaries, and elements of contextual and practice-oriented learning. The focus is also on the changing role of the teacher: they are not only a bearer of knowledge, but also an organizer of the educational process, a facilitator who accompanies the individual and group activities of students, creates conditions for conscious interaction in learning, and supports initiative. The relationship between the formation of metacognitive strategies and the implementation of a competency-based approach is outlined, which is considered as the conceptual basis for the modernization of the educational process in accordance with contemporary social demands. The conclusions summarize that the formation of metacognitive strategies is one of the main conditions for improving the effectiveness of independent learning. It has been proven that metacognitive strategies contribute to conscious management of the educational process, which makes it possible to increase not only its effectiveness, but also its flexibility and adaptability to changes in the educational environment.
