Archiving policy

The journal "Pedagogical Academy: Scientific Notes" supports the principles of Open Access and encourages the widest possible dissemination of pedagogical and psycho-pedagogical research results. This policy defines the rights of authors regarding the self-archiving of different manuscript versions in institutional, disciplinary, and general repositories.

All articles in the journal are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. Copyright for published articles is retained by the authors.

1. Manuscript Versions: Definitions

For the purposes of this policy, three manuscript versions are distinguished:

Submitted Manuscript (Preprint) — the author's version of the manuscript submitted to the journal prior to undergoing peer review. This is the initial version of the work, not containing any changes resulting from the review process.

Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM / Postprint) — the version of the manuscript that has undergone full double-blind peer review and has been accepted for publication by the journal's editorial board, but has not yet been copy-edited, typeset, or formatted into the publisher's final layout. The AAM reflects the final scholarly content of the article.

Version of Record (VoR) — the final version of the article, published on the journal's website with all publisher formatting elements (typesetting, pagination, DOI, metadata, license).

2. Authors' Self-Archiving Rights

2.1. Submitted Manuscript (Preprint)

Authors have the right to deposit the submitted manuscript in any repository or on a personal website at any time, including before, during, and after the peer review process. No embargoes or restrictions apply.

Submitting a manuscript that has previously been posted on a preprint server does not constitute a violation of the principle of novelty and is not grounds for rejection. Authors are required to inform the editorial board of the existence of any preprint at the time of submission and to provide a link to it.

2.2. Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM / Postprint)

Authors have the right to deposit the AAM:

— in their institutional repository at a higher education institution or research institution;

— in disciplinary repositories in the field of education and pedagogical sciences;

— in general open repositories (Zenodo, OSF, and others);

— on personal websites or academic profiles (ResearchGate, Academia.edu).

AAM deposit is permitted immediately upon official acceptance of the article for publication, with no embargo period. The following acknowledgment is recommended to be added to the AAM text:

"This is the accepted manuscript of an article published in 'Pedagogical Academy: Scientific Notes'. The published version is available at: [DOI or URL]."

2.3. Version of Record (VoR)

As the journal is fully Open Access and all articles are published under the CC BY 4.0 license, authors have the right to deposit and distribute the published version of the article in any repositories, on personal websites, in academic social networks, and in other sources without restriction, provided that a complete bibliographic citation to the original publication in the journal is preserved.

3. Recommended Repositories

The journal recommends the use of:

— institutional repositories of pedagogical higher education institutions and research institutions of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine;

— disciplinary repositories in the field of education and pedagogical sciences;

— general repositories: Zenodo (https://zenodo.org), Open Science Framework (https://osf.io);

— Electronic Library of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine (https://lib.iitta.gov.ua);

— Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine.

4. Journal's Commitments

The journal "Pedagogical Academy: Scientific Notes" undertakes to:

— provide perpetual open access to all published articles on the journal's website;

— assign each article a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through the Crossref system;

— maintain article metadata up to date in the Crossref system to ensure reliable DOI redirection;

— not restrict authors' rights to self-archive any version of the manuscript.

5. Compliance with Funder Requirements

This policy is compliant with the requirements of Ukrainian and international funders and research foundations regarding open access, including the requirements of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU), the European Commission (Horizon Europe, Erasmus+), the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, as well as the principles of Plan S and the cOAlition S Rights Retention Strategy (RRS).

Authors receiving funding from the aforementioned or other organizations may fulfill open access requirements by depositing the AAM or the Version of Record in accordance with the terms of this policy.

6. Regulatory Framework

This policy has been developed with reference to:

— the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI); — the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge; — SHERPA/RoMEO recommendations on self-archiving policies (https://v2.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo/); — the principles of Plan S and cOAlition S; — the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0); — the Law of Ukraine "On Education" and the Law of Ukraine "On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activity" insofar as they relate to open access to research results funded from the state budget.
