Abstract

The relevance of the formation of personal physical culture among higher education students, as a manifestation of a harmonious personality prepared for high-quality professional activity within their chosen field, is determined by contemporary societal challenges: demographic crisis, deterioration of the physical and mental health of the country`s population, and the negative consequences of russian aggression. The purpose of this study is to substantiate the axiological approach as a key theoretical and methodological foundation for the effective formation of higher education students’ personal physical culture. The research employed general scientific methods of cognition, including analysis, synthesis, generalization, and systematization of theoretical concepts, as well as pedagogical observation. Based on the research results, the essential characteristics of personal physical culture in higher education students and its components — imperative-cognitive, operational-activity, and value-orientation — were identified, along with specific indicators by which each component is manifested. It was established that physical education, both as an academic discipline and as a pedagogical system, serves as the primary means of forming students’ personal physical culture. The study concludes that the implementation of an axiological approach fosters the development of higher education students as bearers of the values of physical culture, thereby enabling their successful self-realization in professional and personal spheres, as well as their full and active participation in both social and global contexts.
