Abstract

This article examines the role of interdisciplinarity in light of current educational and labor market demands. The research aims to analyze international experience in using an interdisciplinary approach in the professional training of future graphic designers, driven by the necessity of optimizing the educational process for this specialization in Ukrainian higher education institutions. The relevance of the problem stems from the transformation of the modern graphic designer's role, who, in addition to artistic and technical skills, requires comprehensive knowledge and abilities to solve complex tasks in a rapidly changing world. The current state of research on the problem in scientific sources has been analyzed, confirming its global scientific and pedagogical discourse and the significance of interdisciplinarity in art education.

Research methods included the analysis and synthesis of scientific literature, and a systematic analysis of curricula and methodologies from leading higher education institutions in Europe, the USA, and Asia. The study identified the peculiarities of integrating traditional art and design disciplines with UX/UI design, information technology, programming, marketing, business communications, sociology, psychology, animation, multimedia, and game technologies. Effective methodologies for the interdisciplinary approach were determined, such as project-oriented and studio-based learning, the development of critical thinking, close collaboration with industry, and the application of cutting-edge technologies.

The results of the research demonstrate that leading global graphic design educational programs, built on the principles of an interdisciplinary approach, successfully train versatile specialists. This is achieved through the integration of creativity, technology, and human-centered design, with an emphasis on "soft skills".

Despite the challenges associated with the risk of superficial study of educational components, the interdisciplinary approach is a dominant trend that ensures the preparation of competitive graduates.

Conclusions emphasize that applying an interdisciplinary approach is a necessary condition for training specialists capable of creating not only visually appealing but also functional, socially responsible, and technologically sound design solutions. The obtained results form a strong analytical basis for further optimization of the educational process for future graphic designers in Ukraine. Prospects for further research include developing specific mechanisms and strategies for implementing the best global interdisciplinary practices into domestic educational programs, conducting empirical studies on the effectiveness of such approaches, and developing methodologies for assessing developed "soft skills." Research into the potential for cooperation between Ukrainian higher education institutions and the design industry to create joint interdisciplinary projects also remains relevant.
