Abstract

The article explores the potential of virtual simulations and VR environments in the development of digital skills among future medical professionals. The relevance of the topic is driven by the need to modernize medical education in the context of digital transformation and the growing demand for clinicians who are proficient in using advanced technologies. The aim of the study is to identify the possibilities of VR technologies for enhancing the quality of professional training of medical students, fostering their clinical thinking, decision-making skills, and effective communication in simulated clinical settings. The research methods include a comprehensive literature review, pedagogical observation of the educational process in a medical university, elements of pedagogical experimentation, a comparative analysis of the outcomes of traditional versus simulation-based learning, as well as surveys of students and instructors regarding their perceptions of VR tools in education. The results demonstrate that the integration of VR environments and simulation technologies into the training of future physicians and nurses ensures a high level of immersion in professional contexts without posing risks to real patients. It facilitates better assimilation of clinical protocols and enhances teamwork and emergency response skills. Virtual technologies allow for the imitation of complex clinical scenarios and provide opportunities for safe, repeated practice of medical procedures such as resuscitation, surgical interventions, and care for patients in critical conditions. The conclusions justify the necessity of systematically implementing virtual simulations in medical education, preparing educators to work with digital tools, and developing localized protocols for integrating VR into academic curricula. It is emphasized that the combination of VR technologies with traditional medical training contributes to the formation of students’ professional identity, critical clinical thinking, and adaptability to the demands of modern medicine, which is increasingly reliant on digital solutions.
