Abstract

This article deeply explores the multifaceted role of sociocultural activities of higher education institutions as a powerful and indispensable factor in the system of patriotic upbringing of modern student youth. It reveals its significance in forming not only national consciousness but also a complex of patriotic values, which serves as a foundation for the development of a mature and responsible personality of a citizen of Ukraine. A detailed analysis of the main forms and methods of sociocultural work that most effectively contribute to this process is presented. Among these, special attention is given to the organization and conduct of thematic scientific and practical conferences, round tables, patriotic actions, art exhibitions, music and theater festivals, and literary evenings dedicated to the heroic history of Ukraine, its prominent figures, and cultural heritage. The importance of involving students in volunteer initiatives aimed at helping veterans, the elderly, and supporting socially vulnerable segments of the population is also examined, which contributes to the cultivation of empathy, compassion, and an active civic stance.

It is substantiated that the unique sociocultural space of a higher education institution, with its multinational student body, intellectual atmosphere, presence of qualified pedagogical staff, and broad opportunities for self-realization, creates an especially favorable environment for realizing its educational potential. It is proven that it is in this environment that such patriotic values as love for the Motherland, respect for state symbols, knowledge of the history and culture of one's people, readiness to defend the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, awareness of one's responsibility for its future, tolerance, and respect for human rights and freedoms are actively formed. It is emphasized that sociocultural activities contribute to the development of students' sense of national dignity and pride in their country, form an active life position, encourage participation in the socio-political life of the state, and facilitate their integration into the European and global cultural space based on the preservation of their own national identity.
