Abstract

Social and civic competence is key to the work of teachers, as it is one of the main components of their professional activity and determines the quality of the educational process. It ensures the ability of a teacher not only to impart knowledge but also to form values, skills of cooperation, responsibility, respect for the rights of others, and readiness to participate in the life of the community and society. That is why it is important to understand the content of social and civic competence, which should be taken into account in the training of future art teachers at all levels of education.

The article describes the experience of forming the civic and social competence of future teachers in China and Singapore; an attempt is made to analyze the content of the social and civic competence of teachers (teachers of preschool and general secondary education).

The main components of social and civic competence include personal qualities (responsibility, initiative, self-esteem, self-control, honesty, discipline, conscience); social feelings and skills (empathy, tolerance, ability to cooperate, ability to work in a team, resolve conflicts, participate in social events, respect for the rights of others); civic knowledge and skills (knowledge of rights and responsibilities, principles of democracy, national and state symbols, history, traditions, culture of one's country, ability to participate in public life, defend one's rights and interests, act for the benefit of society); value orientations (patriotism, love for the Motherland, respect for cultural diversity, awareness of the importance of independence, readiness to participate in joint activities for the development of society); motivational component (intrinsic motivation for social activity, civic participation).
