Abstract

The article addresses the pressing issue of developing students' digital competence as a key component of modern education, aligned with the demands of the information society and the digital transformation of the educational environment. In the context of rapid advancement of information and communication technologies (ICT) and the implementation of innovative pedagogical approaches, digital competence emerges as a fundamental learning outcome, ensuring students' ability to effectively utilize digital resources, think critically, and creatively solve professional and life-related tasks. The purpose of the article is the scientific substantiation, development, and presentation of an original model for fostering students’ digital competence within the framework of contemporary educational innovations that correspond to the requirements of educational environment transformation. The author draws upon the analysis of leading theoretical frameworks, methodological guidelines, and empirical research findings in the field of digital pedagogy, which highlight diverse aspects of digital competence development — from fostering information literacy and media competence to cultivating safe digital behavior skills and integrating technologies into the learning process.

Contemporary educational innovations are taken into account, including the introduction of STEM-oriented methodologies, distance and blended learning formats, the use of mobile applications, cloud services, and e-learning platforms, all of which significantly impact the structure and content of educational activities.

The article proposes a model for developing students’ digital competence based on a systemic approach that integrates didactic, technological, and motivational components. Conclusions. The proposed model can serve as a methodological foundation for modernizing educational programs and enhancing the quality of digital education in general secondary education institutions. It facilitates the formation of comprehensive digital competence in students that meets the requirements of current educational standards and innovative educational environments.
