Physical training is a fundamental element of athletic performance in freestyle wrestling. A high level of development in strength, endurance, speed, coordination, and flexibility is critically important for achieving competitive results and reducing the risk of injury during competitions. Contemporary scientific research confirms the necessity of a comprehensive approach to improving physical qualities that integrates general and specialized training means, taking into account the individual and age-related characteristics of athletes.
This article presents a systematic analysis of the theoretical and practical aspects of developing physical readiness in freestyle wrestlers, examines the key components of the training process, as well as the principles of its periodization and differentiation. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the methodological foundations for the comprehensive improvement of physical training for freestyle wrestlers, considering age, functional, and individual athlete characteristics. To achieve this aim, a systematic analysis of modern scientific approaches to the formation of physical readiness in freestyle wrestling was conducted, focusing on the role of general and specialized training means, principles of periodization, and load differentiation. Methods of content analysis, comparative generalization, and structuring of scientific information were used to develop scientifically grounded recommendations for constructing adaptive, comprehensive physical training programs.
The research results indicate that five main components—strength, endurance, coordination and reaction speed, flexibility, and systematic periodization—provide optimal conditions for technical-tactical performance in competitive activities. The importance of the phased integration of general and specialized physical training is justified, beginning with the development of basic motor qualities at the initial stage, integrating specialized wrestling exercises at the basic stage, and increasing specific strength and speed during the specialization stage.
The conclusions emphasize that the integration of general and specialized physical training, based on scientifically grounded periodization and individualization, is key to enhancing the technical-tactical efficiency of freestyle wrestlers.
