The paper focuses on the role of intercultural communication in the language training system at Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University and outlines practical ways to integrate the intercultural component into the educational process. The objectives of the research are to analyze the theoretical fundamentals of intercultural communication, determine its key components, and substantiate practical approaches to its development.
The paper applies a comprehensive methodological approach, which involves the analysis of modern scientific literature, regulatory and methodological documents, systematisation of theoretical concepts, and empirical observations of educational practice at Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University. The methods of comparative analysis, interpretation, generalisation, and elements of the case method have been used to analyse educational programmes and extracurricular initiatives of the university.
The study reveals the multidimensional nature of intercultural communication as a process of interaction between representatives of different cultures based on a combination of knowledge, skills and values. The educational programmes of TNPU have been analysed, including implemented interdisciplinary foreign languages courses, special disciplines in intercultural communication and international academic mobility programmes. The paper describes the functioning of the Centre for Intercultural Communication as a platform for the development of tolerance, mutual respect and practical intercultural interaction. The conclusions of the research emphasise that the intercultural competence of future specialists involves motivational, cognitive, behavioural and affective-reflective components, each of which forms the ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment. Particular attention has been paid to the integration of digital resources and interactive teaching methods that contribute to the formation of competencies of the XXI century.
