Abstract

An analysis of the results of the External independent testing (EIT) and National Multisubject Test (NMT) in mathematics over the past five years reveals persistent problems in school mathematics: students demonstrate difficulties with plane geometry and stereometry problems; their solutions are characterized by incomplete validation of conclusions, without references to axiomatic system and theoretical basis, and with broken logic; a significant part of testee have insufficiently developed spatial imagination. This highlights the need to develop methodological approaches and systems for teaching geometry with an accent on the formation of generalizing skills, the practical application of theoretical knowledge, and the development of logical and spatial thinking. A promising direction could be the introduction of interactive visual technologies into the educational process—computer 2D and 3D models for presentation of geometric material. The aim of this article is to develop an approach to teaching geometry based on the systematic use of 2D and 3D visualizations obtained with GeoGebra, which takes into account the experience of the EIT/NMT in mathematics in the last few years and can be the basis for joint analysis of problems with students, individual study of the material, and self-research. As a methodological tool, the research relies on scientific methods of comparative and systematic analysis of scientific sources on innovative processes in the sphere of mathematical education, supplemented by synthetic methods for generalizing leading strategies of educational modernization. The results of the study determined the scientific and practical approach and the main directions for the implementation of ICT in educational practice, in particular a systematic approach to solving stereometric problems. The authors propose an approach to teaching geometry in secondary school with a focus on a particular area based on the principle of step-by-step work with stereometric (geometric) problems using interactive 2D and 3D geometric demonstration computer models and presentations for educational material, taking into account the experience of the EIT/NMT in mathematics last few years. An analysis of pedagogical practices of using GeoGebra in the educational process in schools and in specialized schools and higher education institutions leads to the conclusion that creating interactive visualizations of geometric problems using GeoGebra during training for the NMT is an effective way to organize self-research and creative activities for students.
