Abstract

The article presents the practice of implementing European educational studies at Zaporizhzhia National University within the framework of the Jean Monnet Erasmus+ project 101127848 ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH «The European experience of forming a culture of tolerance in the Ukrainian perspective: media, education, art / EUROTOLERCULTURE». In the process of studying the stated topic, the author relies on the methodology of systemic analysis, analogy, concretization and comparison. The results of the study were reflected in the description of innovative practices of integrating world pedagogical models into the educational trajectories of future teachers. The article represents an analysis of the original developments of the EUROTOLERCULTURE project through the prism of European theories of progressive education («progressive education», J. Dewey) and «pedagogy of the oppressed», P. Freire). The article presents practical cases of the implementation of the international program for various target audiences: holding forum-performances of the Theater of the Oppressed – art methods of creating a safe space for vulnerable groups of the population, teaching the training course «European Strategies for Forming a Tolerant Society: Media, Education, Art» for students of Zaporizhzhia National University, organizing trainings for teachers «Ethical Education: European Philosophy of Raising a Tolerant Personality», testing the competition of creative works among schoolchildren and students «To See, Hear, Feel: On the Path to Understanding». All these activities were aimed at forming an important competence of future teachers – a culture of tolerance, and more broadly – citizenship. The study concludes that the «learning by doing» methodology used during the implementation of the EUROTOLERCULTURE project became the optimal platform for transferring the triad «knowledge-action-empathy» into the practical training of educators.
