Abstract

Scientific literature provides fragmentary information on the physical training of military personnel in military command structures, which explains the need for further consideration of issues related to improving their readiness to perform military and professional duties. The aim of this study is to examine the physical fitness and content of physical training of military personnel in military command structures under martial law. Research methods: analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature, systematization, and surveys. Results. Military personnel predominantly assessed their level of physical fitness as high and above average prior to the introduction of martial law. Throughout the martial law regime, military personnel reported a stable assessment of their physical fitness level (60.87%; n = 28) and a partial deterioration in 32.61% (n = 15). It should be noted that military personnel had significant experience in physical exercise before entering military service. Among the leading sports preferred by military personnel were strength sports, swimming, athletics, various sports games, and martial arts. This experience is probably positive from the point of view of expanding the means used in individual independent training. Under the legal regime of martial law, the content of physical training for military personnel mainly included such means as “accelerated movement and athletics,” sports, and active games. Attention was also paid to methods corresponding to the content of military-professional activities. Among the reasons that can negatively affect the level of physical fitness of military personnel are high levels of workload, limited time for training, and systematic fatigue, organizational reasons, poor health, and lack of hygienic conditions. Conclusions. Military personnel generally assess their level of physical fitness positively and have significant potential to implement systematic activities to achieve the necessary level of physical fitness to perform military and professional duties. However, the implementation of physical training for military personnel requires taking into account the specifics of activities under the legal regime of martial law.
