Abstract

The purpose of the study is to study the modern semantic contexts of the functioning of empathy, in particular, as a component of the professional competence of a future music teacher. The following methods were used during the study: deduction and induction of scientific research, analysis of scientific literature, synthesis and generalization of scientific information. Research results. The modern understanding of the essence and content of the definitions important for revealing the topic of the study was analyzed: "empathy", "pedagogical empathy", "empathy of a music teacher", "competence", "professional competence", "professional competence of a future music teacher". It was found that the basic theories in understanding empathy (psychoanalysis, cognitive, cognition) are still relevant. In modern scientific literature, empathy is considered as a leading social competence, a holistic systemic formation, which is manifested in the ability to respond, understand, empathize with emotional states, feelings of other people or works of art. It has been established that the ability to empathy is an important component of the professioniogram of people in creative and socionomic professions. Modern studies emphasize the role of pedagogical empathy as a communicative dominant of educational and pedagogical activity. It has been proven that the professional competence of a music teacher is an integral systemic characteristic of his personality; is aimed at forming the musical culture of schoolchildren as part of their spiritual culture; allows the teacher to be effective in professional activity; is an indicator of his ability to professional self-realization and self-improvement. Conclusions. At the present stage of development of science, ideas about empathy are deepening and expanding. Empathy is recognized by researchers as an important component of the professional competence of a music teacher; a leading tool in humanizing interaction between participants in the educational process, ensuring success, efficiency and effectiveness of musical and creative activities; an effective means of knowing other people and self-knowledge. The ability to empathize in a future music teacher is revealed and developed during empathetic communication with artistic images of musical works in the process of interpretation, as well as with students during musical and creative activities.
