The purpose of the study is to analyze the results of a theoretical analysis of the organization of non-formal civic education of youth in the context of the necessity of preserving national identity. Scientific methods. The research objective was achieved through the use of general-theoretical methods of structuring and systematizing scientific information from various sources that reveal the content of the categories «citizenship» and «civic competence». By applying the method of comparative analysis of formal and non-formal education in Ukraine, it was established that the network of institutions has expanded the scope of extra-institutional educational activities, whose markers include flexibility, needs-orientation, individualization, decentralization, voluntariness, and variability. Results. It has been proven that a conceptual feature and a societal reference point of the current stage of the evolution of non-formal education is its pronounced civic orientation. The study found that non-formal civic education is aimed at shaping the cultural identity of youth and their nation-mental positioning; it actualizes the spiritual and moral development of citizens by emphasizing the axiology of Ukrainian mentality and its cultural code; it develops the ability to construct a framework of social interaction based on respect, tolerance, solidarity, and responsibility for social well-being; it attaches fundamental importance to respect for the honor and dignity of citizens, their equality, virtues, and freedom; it fosters civic responsibility for socio-political processes; it orients young people towards active participation in the governance of communities and the state; it ensures the development of critical thinking, analytical engagement in the social sphere, and media literacy; it contributes to the formation of an active life stance, civic initiative, and volunteerism among youth. The conclusions. It has been demonstrated that the parameters of non-formal education significantly enrich the arsenal of educational concepts and didactic tools for preserving the national identity of youth.Downloads
