Academic integrity in the research activities of higher education students majoring in history

The study aims to familiarize higher education students of historical specialties with the principles of academic integrity and the issues of avoiding plagiarism in the context of implementing research projects. The purpose of the article is to highlight aspects of the academic integrity of students when performing scientific work and its role in the quality of higher education. The author used analytical and system-structural methods of scientific knowledge, as well as analysis and synthesis. It was determined that the issue of academic integrity is covered in domestic legislation, which indicates its relevance in higher education. Academic integrity is a priority segment of academic culture that ensures the quality of higher education. The types of violations of academic integrity by students of higher educational institutions specializing in history are characterized. Approaches to ensuring students' academic culture and ways to prevent plagiarism are identified. It is indicated that one of the types of scientific and research work of students of historical specialties during their studies at a higher educational institution is course and diploma theses, which require a responsible approach to implementation, independence, and adherence to academic integrity. The emphasis is on the feasibility of introducing the educational component "Academic Integrity" into the educational process, since this concept is a value guideline for the functioning of the education system and the organization of scientific research.
