Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the specific features of developing reading and writing skills in English and German among adults and to evaluate the effectiveness of digital technologies, particularly online platforms and artificial intelligence systems, in the process of language training. The research is driven by the growing demand among adults for professional foreign-language competence, cultural integration, and the advancement of autonomous learning.

The methodology included a systematic review of theoretical sources and pedagogical practices, as well as a comparative analysis of digital tools for enhancing reading and writing skills. Special attention was given to platforms such as Grammarly and Write and Improve, which automatically check texts and provide recommendations for improving writing, and to AI-based chatbots (ChatGPT, Gemini), which simulate authentic communicative situations and deliver personalized feedback. These digital tools reduce grammatical and spelling errors, increase confidence in writing, and promote self-directed learning among adult learners. Empirical evidence confirms the positive impact of these technologies on academic writing, reading of specialized texts, and the integration of traditional and digital methods. The combination of online resources and AI systems makes it possible to adapt learning tasks to individual needs, facilitates self-monitoring, and supports the comprehensive development of reading comprehension and writing proficiency.

The scientific novelty of the research lies in comparing the effectiveness of traditional and digital approaches in shaping reading and writing skills among adult learners of English and German, as well as in identifying the potential of digital technologies to support autonomous learning and personalize the educational process.
