Abstract

Abstract: This article aims to offer a theoretical and methodological framework for integrating precedent phenomena into the teaching of Ukrainian as a foreign language. The article analyzes the linguistic literature on the key features of precedent phenomena, their typology and core functions. Research on scientific and methodological developments regarding the implementation of precedent phenomena in the educational process was conducted. This was achieved through the use of methods such as analysis, synthesis, comparison, and generalization. The selection of precedent phenomena was identified as a significant problem in their integration into the teaching of Ukrainian as a foreign language. The main criteria and approaches for selecting precedent phenomena were clarified. Their functionality, methodological expediency, and frequency of use in speech were outlined as key criteria. The functional and corpus-based approaches were defined as the main ones. It was established that the integration of precedent phenomena into the teaching of Ukrainian as a foreign language is recommended throughout the entire learning process, starting from level A1. The study highlights key methods and techniques for working with precedent phenomena, including linguistic and cultural support, the use of conditionally communicative and communicative exercises, contextual analysis, the provision of examples, synonyms, synonymous phrases as well as brief descriptions of phenomena; analyzing the context of usage; creating communicative situations where precedent phenomena are used; producing concise, adapted definitions; working with illustrative and video materials, websites, mobile applications, etc. The study concludes that while the integration of precedent phenomena into the teaching of Ukrainian as a foreign language offers considerable linguistic and pedagogical potential, it requires significant methodological and organizational preparation from teachers. The successful implementation of precedent phenomena in teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language requires selecting appropriate phenomena, integrating them into lexical minimums and curricula, and developing effective methods for their application in the educational process.
