Abstract

Abstract: Objective. The article examines the role of data visualization in the formation of analytical competence among future economists. In the context of digital transformation of education and the development of a data-driven economy, visualization emerges as a key tool that enables students not only to process large datasets but also to effectively present analytical results for managerial decision-making. The objective of the study is to substantiate the educational significance of visualization and determine its impact on the development of cognitive and practical skills of economics students. Methods. To achieve this goal, a combination of methods was applied, including analysis of contemporary scientific publications, systematization of pedagogical approaches, and generalization of practical experience in the use of interactive panels and dashboards in higher education. The methodological framework is based on the competence-based approach, which emphasizes the development of skills in data interpretation, conclusion building, and decision-making based on visualized results. Additionally, the case study method was employed to highlight successful practices of integrating visualization technologies into educational programs. Results. The findings demonstrate that data visualization significantly influences the development of analytical competence among economics students. The use of interactive charts, heat maps, trend lines, and multi-level dashboards enhances students’ ability to identify patterns, interpret complex economic processes, and build forecasting models. Visualization also fulfills a motivational function by making the analytical process more engaging, accessible, and practice-oriented. The study reveals that the integration of visualization into the learning process deepens students’ understanding of interrelations between economic indicators, strengthens critical thinking skills, and fosters the ability to make independent decisions. Conclusions. Data visualization should be considered a fundamental component of modern economics education and a core tool for developing analytical competence. It improves interpretation of results and facilitates the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Promising directions for future research include exploring the impact of virtual and augmented reality on educational visualization and the application of artificial intelligence to create adaptive visual analytics tools.
