IT Education in Ukraine within the Context of the Network Society: Transformation of Values

Abstract

Abstract: Contemporary transformations in the field of education in Ukraine are occurring under the strong influence of global digitalization and the development of the network society. Particularly significant in this context is IT education, which determines the competitiveness of the younger generation in the international labor market and shapes new sociocultural orientations. Its development has become not only a sectoral task but also a key factor in the modernization of the entire educational system and societal values. The purpose of the article is to examine the specific features of IT education development in Ukraine within the framework of the network society and to identify the key changes in the value system accompanying this process. Methods. The study employs an interdisciplinary approach that combines the analysis of scholarly sources and a comparative analysis of educational practices. Methods of system analysis were used to structure data on labor market dynamics and requirements for IT specialists, as well as the content analysis method for studying educational standards and programs. Results. The findings indicate that IT education in Ukraine is acquiring strategic importance as a factor of integration into the global digital space. The transformation of educational values has been identified: from prioritizing academic knowledge to the formation of flexible competencies oriented toward practical application and lifelong learning. The growing role of network technologies in shaping new models of educational interaction is emphasized. Conclusions. IT education is becoming not only an instrument of professional training but also an essential element of socialization in the network society. It forms a digital culture in citizens, which is a necessary condition for a full life and participation in a modern democratic society.
