Abstract

Digital transformation of Ukrainian universities is a strategic response to the challenges of global knowledge competition, European integration and military instability. The relevance of the topic stems from the need to modernize the educational environment, ensure inclusiveness, and promote sustainable development through technological innovations. The purpose of the study is to analyze digital transformation as the integration of digital technologies with pedagogical innovations to form an ethically oriented educational ecosystem. The methodology includes a theoretical analysis of works on social pedagogy, regulatory documents and international experience, systematization of statistical indicators, classification of technologies, as well as empirical and predictive approaches based on surveys of higher education institutions and analysis of national initiatives. The results of the study showed that more than 50% of universities have implemented electronic courses, libraries and distance learning; 25.7% electronic document management; 20% digital technologies in the educational process. The main barriers to the digitalization of higher education are identified: financial deficit, outdated infrastructure, lack of IT competencies, organizational resistance and regional inequality. The potential of technologies (AI, LMS, VR, blockchain) for the modernization of teaching, research and management is assessed. Positive dynamics of digitalization, international support for the modernization of higher education in Ukraine and expansion of inter-university cooperation are identified. The conclusions confirm that effective digital transformation is possible provided that it is coordinated with the digital strategy, investing in infrastructure, developing the digital literacy of staff and expanding inter-sectoral cooperation. It will allow universities to adapt to social challenges, get closer to European standards and ensure sustainable development of the educational sector.
