Formation of language competences in teaching French as a second foreign language at the tertiary level

The article is devoted to the actual problem of teaching French as a second foreign language after English, the formation of students' necessary language competencies with the aim of optimizing the knowledge of both foreign languages in a higher education institution using a comparisson method. The objective of the article is to focus on the development of phonetic, lexical, grammatical, spelling and orthoepic aspects of speech competence. In particular, the results of the analysis provide for the consideration of the necessary stages for the improvement and intensification of the French language after English, which provides a positive transfer in relation to the second foreign language. Attention is focused on the interconnection of the language assimilation of the language material between the French and English languages. The conclusions of the study indicate the prospect of studying multilingualism for the successful training of a qualified specialist.
