Abstract: The purpose of the study is to identify the impact of interactive teaching methods on students’ motivation to participate during lessons at higher education institutions specializing in physical culture and sports. The article is devoted to the scientific and technological core ideas of interactive methods, which lies in the prioritization of the pedagogical process content in professional institutions of higher education. This prioritization focuses on students’ acquisition of intellectual, moral, behavioral, mobilizational, motor, communicative, health-preserving, and health-forming values of physical culture, based on various scientific discoveries, achievements, and innovations of global culture. Interactive methods are one of the types of innovative teaching methods. Innovation in the field of training future specialists in physical culture refers to the introduction of new approaches that ensure a qualitative increase in the efficiency of processes demanded in the field of physical culture and sports. To achieve the stated goal were applied following research methods - analysis and generalization of literature sources; pedagogical observation; sociological methods (questionnaires); and methods of statistical data processing. Particular attention is paid to identify effective interactive teaching methods that contribute student's motivating to acquire knowledge in professional higher education institutions. Results. The study found that the application of interactive methods in teaching led to a 25% increase in class attendance during the experiment. Analyzing the dynamics of students’ academic performance confirmed that the use of interactive methods enhanced their interest in subjects and increased motivation, as a result academic performance improved by an average of 30%. In addition to increasing engagement, the use of interactive methods encouraged students to devote more time for independent work. Significantly increased the students’ activity, willingness to communicate with the lecturer, defend their opinions and take part in discussions. Conclusions. It was found that the application of modern technologies in the educational process is determined by the integrative and informational processes taking place in society, by the formation of a new education system oriented to integration into the global educational space. The formation and enhancement of motivation are largely determined by the proper organization of classes, an individual approach, the teacher’s demandingness, dynamism and emotionality, innovation of teaching methods and instructional formats. A promising direction for future research is the study of university students’ motivation for educational and scientific activities, which requires comprehensive research and diagnostics of the results. It is necessary to study educational, scientific, and professional motivation at different stages of personal development and formation.
