Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) technologies can be used to promote academic integrity and enhance students’ ethical awareness, as well as to outline the pedagogical conditions necessary for their effective implementation in the learning process. This topic is particularly relevant due to the rapid digital transformation of education, the growing need to incorporate innovative technologies, and the simultaneous imperative to uphold high standards of ethical and academic conduct among students. The research methods involved reviewing psychological, pedagogical, and methodological literature, conducting a comparative and analytical assessment of studies on AI applications in education, summarizing Ukrainian and international experiences, and developing an authorial approach to methodological strategies aimed at fostering critical thinking, ethical awareness, and responsible academic behavior. The findings indicate that integrating AI into educational practice requires a careful alignment of technological, pedagogical, and ethical dimensions. AI tools—such as automated assignment checking, personalized recommendations, learning analytics, and ethical scenario simulations—not only help maintain academic integrity but also support the development of critical thinking, reflective skills, and student autonomy. The proposed methodological approach envisions a problem-based learning environment where AI serves as a catalyst for skill development, while teachers act as facilitators, offering guidance, ethical support, and encouragement for genuine engagement in learning. In conclusion, promoting academic integrity in a digital educational environment is achievable through the thoughtful integration of AI technologies, pedagogically informed methods, and the cultivation of an ethical culture. This approach contributes to the development of key 21st-century competencies in students, including critical thinking, independence, responsibility for learning outcomes, and a deep understanding of academic integrity as a core value.
