Methodology for Implementing AI Tools in the Training of Graphic Designers

Abstract: Purpose. Development of a comprehensive methodology for integrating generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) into the educational process for training graphic designers to overcome the technological-pedagogical gap and form new professional competencies in the context of digitalization of creative industries. The research aims to create practical tools for effective implementation of AI technologies in educational programs. Methods. The study utilized critical interpretive synthesis to systematize AI application paradigms (AIDAG, AGDIP, AACDP, AVERM), Rogers' diffusion of innovations theory, and resource-based learning (RBL) principles. The empirical base included surveys, interviews, and observations of student activities. Analysis of international experience in integrating AI tools into design education was conducted. Results. A comprehensive methodology was developed, including: 1) classification of AI tools by usage paradigms; 2) a design thinking-AI synergy model in "human-in-the-loop" format; 3) a "triple reflection" model for quality assessment of works; 4) differentiated pedagogical strategies for teachers at different readiness levels. Empirical evidence confirmed improvements in both utilitarian (process optimization) and hedonic (motivation) indicators. Challenges identified include: balancing automation and creative control, generation artifacts, and the need for improved tool accuracy. Conclusions. The proposed methodology effectively integrates GenAI into design education while preserving creative control and developing critical AI literacy. Future prospects include overcoming technological anxiety, developing ethical standards, and adapting the methodology to the specifics of the national educational system. The effectiveness of the "human-in-the-loop" model for preserving the creative component of the educational process has been proven.Downloads
