Abstract

The article examines the artistic image as a leading category of art studies that integrates the worldview, emotional, and intellectual components of creative activity. Emphasis is placed on the importance of a methodological approach to the formation of the artistic image in contemporary photographic art as a necessary condition for the effective realization of creative intent and for improving the quality of art education. The contribution of scholars and artists to the theoretical and practical understanding of this issue is summarized, and the interdisciplinary nature of research on the artistic image is highlighted within the contexts of aesthetics, psychology, and semiotics. Methodological principles for the formation of the artistic image in the process of professional training of photography students are proposed. The objective of the research is to elucidate the key concepts of the artistic image as a fundamental category of art theory, to analyze the activities of artists and researchers who reveal its essence and significance in the creative process, and to define methodological guidelines that contribute to the development of professional competencies in students of photographic arts. To achieve this aim, the research employs methods of theoretical analysis and synthesis sources were applied; pedagogical analysis was used to determine methodological guidelines and ways to improve creative activity; art-theoretical observation and interpretation were employed to reveal the features of the formation of the artistic image in photography. The results of the study demonstrate that the artistic image is a fundamental category of art studies, which, in an interdisciplinary context, integrates the worldview, emotional, and intellectual components of creative activity. The article highlights the methodological approach to forming the artistic image in contemporary photographic art, summarizes the contributions of scholars and artists to its study, and confirms its universality as a tool for artistic generalization. The importance of implementing appropriate methodological guidelines in the modern system of art education is also emphasized. The conclusions state that the artistic image, as a fundamental category of art theory, provides the integration of worldview, emotional, and intellectual aspects of creative activity. The methodical approach to its formation in contemporary photographic art is identified as a decisive condition for realizing the author’s creative intentions. Special attention is given to scientific research and artistic works that deepen the theoretical and practical understanding of the artistic image. The proposed methodological guidelines are recognized as promising and appropriate for implementation in the art education process.
