The article presents a comprehensive analysis of pedagogical abilities and personal qualities of a primary school teacher as important factors of effective professional activity. The proposition that pedagogical abilities, although a significant prerequisite for successful mastering of the teaching profession, are not decisive and can be compensated by the development of other professionally significant qualities, in particular, is substantiated hard work, responsibility, discipline and orientation towards continuous self-improvement. The role of the personal characteristics of a teacher in the context of the transformation of modern education and the growth of requirements for the quality of educational services is revealed. Special attention is paid to humanism as a basic professional quality of a primary school teacher, as well as to such characteristics as emotional balance, justice, pedagogical exactingness, sense of humor, professional tact and emotional sensitivity. The importance of personal activity, self-control and pedagogical culture as the basis for the formation of humanistically oriented interaction with younger schoolchildren is emphasized. It has been proven that the personal qualities of a teacher are closely related to his professional competence and determine the effectiveness of the educational process in primary school. The article examines the personality of a modern elementary school teacher as a key factor in the effectiveness of the educational process. It is shown that the professional skills of a teacher are formed on the basis of a high level of erudition, general culture, deep professional knowledge and mastery of pedagogical technologies. The article focuses on the importance of a teacher's personal qualities: friendliness, smile, openness, pedagogical tact, and emotional balance. The role of pedagogical reflection and conscious control of the teacher's own assessments is emphasized, as well as the importance of non-verbal means of communication (facial expressions, gestures, gaze, intonation) for the formation of a psychologically comfortable educational environment. Based on the analysis of empirical and theoretical data, it is concluded that the pedagogical skill of a primary school teacher is the result of a synthesis of professional competence, personal qualities, and the ability for constant self-improvement.Downloads
