Abstract

The article is devoted to the theoretical and methodological justification of the feasibility of using multimodal digital technologies in the development of foreign language communicative competence of future officers. The aim of the study is to identify the didactic potential of multimodal platforms and to determine their impact on learning outcomes, motivation, and cadets’ engagement in the process of foreign language training.

The study employs a combination of theoretical and empirical methods, including the analysis and systematization of scientific sources on foreign language education and digital didactics, generalization of pedagogical experience, structural-functional modeling, and pedagogical observation.

As a result of the study, the concept of multimodal technologies has been clarified as an integrative didactic resource that combines textual, visual, auditory, and interactive modes of information representation. The mechanisms through which the multimodal approach influences the development of linguistic, speech, sociocultural, and strategic components of foreign language communicative competence have been identified. It has been demonstrated that the use of gamification, competitive elements, and interactive learning forms contributes to increased motivation, engagement, and learning autonomy of cadets, as well as positively affects the quality of foreign language acquisition in a professionally oriented military context.

The conclusions substantiate the pedagogical feasibility of systematic use of multimodal digital platforms in the foreign language training of future officers, provided they are methodically integrated into lesson structures, combined with traditional teaching methods, and accompanied by regular feedback. The results confirm the prospects of multimodal technologies as a tool to enhance the effectiveness of foreign language communicative competence development and outline directions for further experimental evaluation of their impact.
