Abstract

Abstract. The article highlights key aspects of national-patriotic education, primarily focused on the formation of patriotic values and national consciousness among students. It emphasizes that this process is grounded in the profound cultural and historical experience of the Ukrainian people, as well as the preservation and transmission of their unique traditions, customs, spiritual heritage, and age-old wisdom. It is substantiated that the modern system of national-patriotic education for youth is being structured as a comprehensive triune model, in which theoretical preparation is closely integrated with practical social activity. Today, the civic-patriotic component focuses on developing active social agency and media literacy, ensuring personal resilience amidst information warfare and complex social transformations. Simultaneously, military-patriotic education is evolving from the reproductive study of theory toward practice-oriented training, where the heroism of the past and the deeds of modern defenders serve as the ethical and motivational foundation for the development of a conscious citizen. A defining role in this process is played by the spiritual and moral dominant, which serves as the internal core of personality development. It is this element that ensures the deep interiorization of national values, transforming knowledge of statehood, language, and ethno-cultural traditions into steadfast internal convictions and a personal philosophy of life. The overarching conceptual factor of the entire system is the Ukrainian national idea, which facilitates the formation of morally mature, responsible, and patriotically minded youth capable of active participation in state-building and the protection of national interests. The analysis of innovative forms and methods of national-patriotic upbringing for students in extracurricular activities at general secondary education institutions has been identified as a promising direction for further scientific research.
