Abstract

The article examines the influence of video games on the development of language skills in the process of learning English in a secondary school. The analysis of theoretical materials confirms that video games can create conditions for simulating real communicative situations, contribute to the individualization of learning and activate the cognitive activity of students. Empirical research data shows that students who used video games achieved significantly higher results compared to those who studied using traditional methods. A comparative analysis of the average value and standard deviation of the tests confirms the effectiveness of using video games in the educational process.

At the same time, the study revealed a number of problems and challenges associated with the use of video games. These include technical difficulties, the need to adapt game content to educational programs, the possible distraction of students from the main tasks..

The relevance of the study is due to the growing interest in the use of modern technologies in the educational process and the need to find new methods of increasing the effectiveness of foreign language learning. It has been established that the use of video games contributes not only to the improvement of educational results, but also to the increase of the general interest of students in learning the language.

The results of this study will contribute to the improvement of English language teaching methods, the integration of the latest technologies into the educational process, and the improvement of educational efficiency. The practical significance of the article lies in the development of recommendations for teachers on the use of video games in education, which will make English lessons more interesting and effective. Teachers will be able to use the obtained results to improve methodological approaches and create innovative programs aimed at developing students' language skills.
