Abstract: Purpose. The purpose of the article is to develop and test the effectiveness of a complex system of planning physical activity on the Concept2 training device to improve the physical state of men in the first period of mature age. Methods. In the research process, a complex of general scientific and special pedagogical methods was applied: analysis and systematization of scientific and methodological sources; comparative analysis of scientific approaches to recreational and health-improving classess with people of mature age; pedagogical testing; anthropometric method; methods for determining functional status; method of assessing somatic health and methods of mathematical statistics. Results. A program which provided for the use of exercises on the Concept2 training device was introduced into the system of recreational and health-improving classess for men in the first period of mature age. The program took into account the level of somatic health of men of mature age. Conclusions. It was concluded that under the influence of the experimental program of recreational and health-improving classes with the predominant use of exercises on the Concept2 simulator, there was an increase in the functional capabilities of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems (as evidenced by a decrease in heart rate, an increase in vital capacity of lungs, duration of breath holding in the Stange and Gench tests, and the vital index), an increase in the level of somatic health.Downloads
