The purpose of the article is a theoretical analysis of modern approaches to teaching team sports games in higher education institutions and substantiation of ways to improve their teaching methods taking into account innovative technologies, competency-based and personality-oriented approaches, as well as individual characteristics and motivational sphere of higher education applicants. Research methods. The study used a complex of general scientific and special methods: analysis and synthesis of scientific sources, generalization of pedagogical experience of higher education institutions, comparison of modern methodological approaches, systematization of theoretical provisions on the implementation of digital and interactive technologies in teaching team sports games. Results. It was established that the modern organization of teaching team sports games in higher education institutions is characterized by the predominance of traditional methods aimed mainly at the formation of technical and tactical skills and abilities, which does not fully ensure the development of social, communicative and leadership competencies of students. The generalization of scientific approaches has shown an increase in attention to the implementation of competency-based, personality-oriented and interactive approaches, the use of digital technologies, video analysis, modeling of game situations and elements of gamification. At the same time, their implementation in the practice of higher education institutions is often fragmentary. The need for systematic integration of digital and interactive technologies into the methodology of teaching sports games is substantiated in order to increase student motivation, personalize learning and form key competencies. Practical recommendations have been developed for improving the organization of the educational process, which include individualization of learning, application of motivational strategies, implementation of digital tools, development of team interaction and a comprehensive system for assessing learning outcomes. Conclusions. It has been proven that effective teaching of team sports games in higher education institutions is possible provided that traditional and modern methods are combined, innovative pedagogical technologies are systematically implemented and competency-based and personality-oriented approaches are implemented. The proposed set of recommendations is aimed at improving the quality of the educational process, forming students' physical, social, and personal competencies, and strengthening their learning motivation.
