Abstract: Purpose. The purpose of this article is to verify the effectiveness of incorporating elements of martial arts (using Horting as an example) into the physical education of middle school–aged children as a means of their patriotic education. Methods. The study employed a set of general scientific and special pedagogical methods, including analysis and systematization of scientific and methodological sources, questionnaire survey, a pedagogical experiment, and methods of mathematical statistics. Results. The effectiveness of using martial arts elements (Horting as an example) as a means of patriotic education for middle school–aged children was substantiated. Conclusions. It was concluded that organizing physical education lessons with the inclusion of Horting elements increases students’ active engagement and contributes to the formation of patriotic values grounded in learning about national sports, studying the experience of outstanding Ukrainian athletes, targeted pedagogical influence, and understanding the historical heritage of our country.Downloads
