Abstract

Abstract: The article examines the problem of developing academic drawing skills of the human figure among students of art specialties in the process of professional training. The purpose of the study is to substantiate a step-by-step methodology for creating an academic drawing of the nude and clothed human figure and to determine the pedagogical conditions for the effective formation of professional skills. Research methods: theoretical analysis of artistic and pedagogical sources, generalization of practical teaching experience, comparative analysis of educational drawing setups, and pedagogical observation of the process of students’ skill formation. The results of the study determine the sequence of work on an academic drawing: composition of the image on the format, linear-constructive construction using reference points and the modular principle of measuring proportions, clarification of characteristic features, light-and-shade modelling of the form taking into account spatial planes and relationships, as well as generalization and achievement of the integrity of the image. Typical mistakes made by students during construction and tonal rendering (loss of spatial perception, excessive detailing, isolation of parts of the figure) are analyzed, and ways of overcoming them are proposed through the development of volumetric-spatial thinking, the study of plastic anatomy, and the performance of preparatory sketches and exercises. It is emphasized that mastering academic drawing does not limit students’ creativity but becomes a necessary basis for further professional development. The importance of observing pedagogical conditions in the process of effectively developing academic drawing skills of the human figure in students of art specialties is highlighted. The conclusions emphasize that the effectiveness of developing academic drawing skills is ensured by following the principle “from general to specific and from specific to general,” the systematic nature of learning, the combination of theoretical knowledge and practical work, and the creation of a creative atmosphere. Academic drawing is defined as the foundation of the professional development of a future art teacher.
