Abstract

Abstract: The article presents a comprehensive justification of the methodological foundations for implementing innovative strategies in foreign-language training of higher education learners within the context of contemporary transformations of the educational landscape. Emphasis is placed on the necessity of a synergistic integration of traditional and emerging methodological approaches which, under global, digital, and societal challenges, form a holistic framework for ensuring the effectiveness of the educational process. The article analyses the strategic, competence-based, activity-based, communicative, cognitive, interactional, intercultural, and digital approaches, highlighting their complementarity and methodological potential in the renewal of foreign-language training. It is underscored that innovative strategies in foreign language education cannot be effectively implemented without establishing a coherent methodological foundation capable of ensuring flexibility, adaptability, individualization, and professional relevance of learners’ training. The content of the strategic approach – focused on long-term planning of foreign-language competence development – and the competence-based approach – which integrates knowledge, skills, experience, values, and reflection mechanisms – is examined in depth. It is argued that the combination of these approaches guarantees systemic coherence and predictability of the educational process, while the emerging approaches – digital, networked, and multimodal – strengthen its adaptability and innovative capacity. The article proposes an authorial matrix illustrating the synergy of traditional and emerging methodological approaches, which reflects the mechanisms of their integration in the logic of innovative strategies for foreign-language training. The matrix has both explanatory and design functions, enabling the identification of optimal combinations of methodological solutions for the modernization of educational practices. It is concluded that the synergy of methodological approaches contributes to forming a holistic, adaptive, and professionally oriented model of foreign-language training that meets contemporary challenges and ensures high-quality foreign language education in higher education institutions.
