Abstract

Abstract: Abstract. The article scientifically substantiates the content of professional training for future teachers of general secondary education institutions in the specialty «Secondary Education (Technologies)» based on the principles of folk decorative and applied arts. The essence of the main components of the pedagogical system is revealed, with particular emphasis on the importance of the content component as the foundation for developing the professional competence of future educators. The purpose of the study is to explore the content and structure of artistic and labor training of future teachers through the means of decorative and applied arts. Methods: Theoretical analysis of pedagogical sources, generalization of practical teaching experience, comparative analysis of academic disciplines, and pedagogical observation of the process of forming students’ artistic and labor skills and abilities were employed. Special attention is paid to the principles and criteria for selecting educational material, including comprehensiveness, social relevance, scientific and practical significance, purposefulness, and systematicity. It is demonstrated that, in the context of modern technocratic society, turning to national artistic traditions is an effective means of forming students’ national consciousness and aesthetic culture. Results: The article provides a detailed characterization of the role of key academic disciplines, such as folk crafts and trades of ukraine, fundamentals of design, and ethno-design. The methodology for integrating theoretical knowledge with practical artistic and design activities is highlighted, including graphic preparation, product design, and material implementation. It is emphasized that the open nature of educational programs and academic autonomy allow flexible adaptation of the curriculum to regional specifics and individual student needs. Conclusions: The integration of artistic, design-technological, and methodological training ensures logical continuity of learning at all levels of higher education. This enables future teachers to be well-prepared for the successful organization of students’ creative artistic and labor activities, thereby ensuring the transmission of national cultural values to future generations.
