Abstract

Abstract: The article presents a theoretical analysis of crisis counseling as an important tool of psychosocial support and social rehabilitation for individuals affected by traumatic events. The relevance of the study is determined by the increasing number of crisis situations in contemporary society, particularly in the context of war, which causes significant psychological and social consequences for different population groups. The purpose of the research is to substantiate the essence and functional potential of crisis counseling within the system of social work and to determine its role in the process of psychosocial support and further rehabilitation of people who have experienced traumatic events. The methodological basis of the study includes general scientific methods such as analysis, synthesis, generalization and systematization of scientific sources, which made it possible to identify the main theoretical approaches to understanding crisis counseling in social work. The study found that crisis counseling acts as an important instrument of professional assistance for individuals experiencing the consequences of traumatic events and is aimed at stabilizing a person's emotional state, reducing psychological distress, supporting their ability to function socially and mobilizing internal resources to overcome difficult life situations. The main functions of crisis counseling in the process of psychosocial support have been identified, including stabilization, supportive, diagnostic, resource and mediating functions, the implementation of which contributes to effective assistance for clients experiencing crisis situations. Particular attention is given to the role of the social worker in the process of crisis counseling, which involves establishing trustful contact with the client, assessing their needs, providing emotional and informational support, and coordinating interaction with various social service institutions. The study proves that crisis counseling should be considered not only as a form of immediate response to crisis situations but also as an important initial stage of further psychosocial support and social rehabilitation of people affected by traumatic events. Its application contributes to restoring psychological balance, developing constructive coping strategies and creating conditions for further social adaptation and integration.
