Abstract

Abstract. The article analyzes the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the educational process, their impact on learning motivation, effectiveness, and opportunities for personalizing the educational environment. It also outlines the advantages and risks of AI application, particularly the issue of academic integrity and the need to improve approaches to assessing students’ learning outcomes. Methods. The study employed analysis of scientific literature, content analysis of students’ written work, expert evaluation, surveys, and oral questioning to determine the degree of AI use, the level of students’ independence, and the depth of their understanding of the material. The results were integrated to develop a multi-level system of gradient-based assessment. Results. A survey of approximately 100 teachers and students of the SSU “Ivano-Frankivsk Professional College of Physical Education of NUPESU” was conducted to examine the use of artificial intelligence tools (including ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot) in the educational process. The study explored the frequency of AI use, respondents’ attitudes toward its application, and the effectiveness of traditional assessment methods. The paper substantiates a gradient-based approach to assessing written work, which is interpreted as a continuous scale of change from full reliance on AI to independent, conscious, and effective task performance. Criteria for identifying the degree of AI use are defined, including text coherence, originality, linguistic features, and students’ ability to explain their work. A four-level assessment scale, ranging from blind copying to effective performance, is proposed. Conclusions. The proposed approach enhances the objectivity of assessment in the context of widespread AI use, promotes the development of critical thinking and responsible use of digital technologies, and supports students’ independent work skills. The integration of written and oral assessment, along with the development of prompt competence, is emphasized as an important component of modern education.
