Abstract. The goal is to improve the process of physical training of students of the economic direction for future professional activity. The article considers the issues of the need to develop physical abilities and psychomotor qualities, which is important for professional activity. In such conditions, the need to update methodological approaches to the process of physical training is growing. In the process of forming an independent economy, the state sets higher education institutions the task of ensuring the training of qualified specialists [1,8,10] who have a high level of specialized knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as a great potential for general and professional performance. The state program, resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and orders of the Ministry of Education and Science on physical education of students provide for up to 40% of the training time for the development and improvement of physical abilities and psychophysiological qualities, which are key to the successful performance of future professional duties. Taking into account the climatic, geographical, socio-economic and sexual characteristics of the body of economics students, the management of the educational and training process will acquire a scientific basis. This will allow not only to effectively influence the physical fitness of student youth, but also to increase their readiness to perform professional duties, which emphasizes the relevance of the chosen topic and requires its creative solution. Results. The study of the dynamics of the development of general and professionally applied physical abilities of female students of the 1st–3rd years of National University of Bioresources and Environmental Management of Ukraine showed mostly mixed results. Based on the study of a ascertaining nature and using methods of mathematical statistics, a three-level differential system for assessing the level of development of general and professionally applied physical abilities of students of economic specialties was developed. Scientific and technological progress and the recovery of the state economy are constantly increasing the requirements for specialists of various profiles. This is accompanied by the need to develop physical abilities and psychomotor qualities, which is important for professional activity. In such conditions, the need to update methodological approaches to the process of physical training is growing. Conclusions. It is recommended to apply verbal and visual methods more widely, using a disjointed study of exercises. A significant part of the exercises should be performed under difficult conditions with the active involvement of visual, auditory and tactile analyzers, which requires ensuring sufficient rest even with medium or low intensity of physical exertion. The main form of organizing physical training of students is training classes, while consolidating the acquired skills and improving professional and applied physical abilities occurs within the framework of industrial practice. The latter has a number of advantages due to specialized conditions and equipment, as well as the ability to organize operational control of the performance of labor functions. The study of age-related features of the development of physical abilities indicates the existence of dynamics in this process. In particular, female students have a gradual increase in results in such indicators as "body lifts in 1 minute", "hanging on bent arms", "100 m run", "hand dynamometry". Also, indicators of speed coordination of movements and accuracy of hand actions are improving. But there was a tendency for results to increase from the 1st to the 2nd year and decrease in the 3rd year. This is due to the fact that mandatory physical education classes exist in the 1st and 2nd years, and in the 3rd year they are held at will.Downloads
