Abstract

Purpose. The study is aimed at determining the characteristics of physical fitness of Chinese students in relation to the formation of value orientations toward physical culture. Methods. The study was conducted at Zhoukou Normal University (People's Republic of China) and involved 100 students (50 males and 50 females). A комплекс of theoretical and empirical methods was applied, including analysis of scientific and methodological literature, pedagogical observation, physical fitness testing, and methods of mathematical statistics for processing the obtained results. Results. The findings revealed a positive dynamic in physical fitness indicators of students after the implementation of the experimental program. Improvements were observed in tests characterizing speed abilities, endurance, speed-strength qualities, flexibility, and strength in both male and female students. These changes indicate an increase in physical performance, enhancement of functional capabilities of the organism, and improvement in motor activity efficiency. At the same time, it was established that the improvement in physical fitness is accompanied by positive shifts in the structure of value orientations, manifested in the increased importance of health, an active lifestyle, self-development, and responsible attitudes toward personal activity. The developed model for forming value orientations ensures the integration of motivational-value, activity-based, and organizational components and creates favorable conditions for engaging students in systematic physical activity. Conclusions. It has been proven that students' physical fitness is closely related to their level of motor activity and the formation of value orientations. The implementation of the experimental program contributes to improving physical fitness, developing key physical qualities, and forming stable motivation for physical activity, which is essential for enhancing the effectiveness of physical education in higher education institutions.
