The modern education system is undergoing significant transformations under the influence of global social, technological, and political challenges. The full-scale invasion has become one of the key factors affecting the organization of the educational process in Ukraine. The destruction of educational infrastructure, the forced displacement of teachers and students, as well as problems with electricity supply and Internet access have significantly complicated the implementation of traditional models of educational organization. Under such conditions, the use of various formats of online learning, in particular synchronous and asynchronous modes, becomes especially relevant, as they ensure the continuity of the educational process and facilitate effective interaction among its participants. The aim of the article is to conduct a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of synchronous and asynchronous learning in wartime conditions, as well as to determine their potential for ensuring the continuity of the educational process. The study employs methods of scientific literature analysis, generalization of contemporary approaches to the organization of distance learning, and comparative analysis of pedagogical models of synchronous and asynchronous learning. The results indicate that synchronous learning provides a higher level of interaction among participants in the educational process and contributes to the development of students’ learning motivation, whereas asynchronous learning is characterized by greater adaptability to crisis conditions in the functioning of the educational system. It has been established that the most effective model for organizing the educational process under martial law is a combined use of synchronous and asynchronous learning formats. The conclusions emphasize that the integration of various forms of distance education enhances the resilience of the educational system to crisis challenges and ensures the maintenance of education quality even under conditions of an unstable social environment.
