Abstract

The article presents the possibilities of applying SWOT analysis for the strategic assessment of the current state and development prospects of the club hockey system in Ukraine. The aim of the study is the theoretical and methodological substantiation of the use of SWOT analysis as a tool for the systemic assessment of internal and external factors influencing the development of club hockey, as well as the identification of strategic directions for its improvement. The study employs a set of general scientific methods, including systems analysis, SWOT analysis, generalization of scientific sources and regulatory documents, structural-logical analysis, and modelling. Results. It is substantiated that SWOT methodology can be used not only as a descriptive tool but also as a practical mechanism for systematizing internal and external factors determining the development of club hockey. Based on a systems approach, the club hockey system is considered as a complex organizational and managerial system comprising federative, club, youth, infrastructural, personnel, financial, and socio-communication components. The study analyses the macro-environment of club hockey development according to political, economic, social, and technological factors, as well as the micro-environment in terms of organizational, marketing, financial, and human resource dimensions. Conclusions. Based on the SWOT analysis, the strengths and weaknesses of the club hockey system, as well as opportunities and threats affecting its development, were identified. The synthesized SWOT matrix made it possible to formulate strategic directions for the development of club hockey in Ukraine, including strengthening the youth development system, professionalization of management, diversification of funding sources, expansion of community partnerships, and implementation of digital management tools. The use of SWOT analysis ensures a systematic assessment of the state of the club hockey system and the formation of strategic development directions through S-O, S-T, W-O, and W-T strategies, creating a foundation for improving the hockey management system in Ukraine.
