Abstract

Purpose. Today's education is focused on bridging the gap between the technological side of designing stage images and the cognitive principles of organizing stage space. The article focuses on the scientific substantiation and creation of a working strategy for teaching stage costume design based on the key principles of visual perception. Methods. The study takes into account a comprehensive approach to organizing methodological tools, including a pedagogical experiment and systemic modelling of the educational process in academic groups. The experimental study was conducted with the involvement of 110 students of the Design specialty, who were divided into experimental and control groups. The evaluation of the experimental results was carried out according to the proposed criteria of compositional integrity, optical readability of the silhouette and communicative effectiveness of the image. To confirm the statistical reliability of the results, the Pearson χ² criterion was used. Results. The study confirmed that, under the condition of implementing the principles of visual perception, the creative process turns into an organized system. The introduction of the proposed learning model caused an increase in the number of students with a high level of professional competence from 40% to 61.8%. The relationship between the awareness of future designers of optical regularities (texture, figure, colour) and the ability to embody competitive stage images was confirmed. Conclusions. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the creation of an innovative pedagogical model that considers the stage costume as a component of a communicative act. It was confirmed that under the conditions of systematic integration of cognitive mechanisms into the sphere of design education, students begin to perform design in a more systematic and reasoned manner. The practical significance of the results lies in the prospect of their use within the educational programs and curricula of art institutions of higher education. The prospect of further research is to study the influence of immersive technologies on the process of modelling stage images.
