Abstract

The article analyzes the process of developing school students’ digital culture in the context of the active implementation of digital technologies in the educational process. Current trends in the digitalization of education are described, which lead to the transformation of learning content and a shift toward the development of learners’ digital competencies as a necessary condition for their successful socialization in the information society.

It is established that digital technologies today function not only as a tool for organizing learning activities but also as an important factor in shaping personal qualities, value orientations, and professionally significant competencies required for life and activity in a digital environment. It is determined that at the state level there is an increasing need to develop digital culture as a component of an individual’s overall culture and a strategic direction of educational development.

Normative and strategic documents regulating the development of education under conditions of digital transformation are analyzed, and their focus on the formation of information and digital competence among participants of the educational process is identified. The essence of the concepts “information technologies” and “digital technologies” is clarified, and their interrelation and specific application in the educational environment are defined.

The concepts of “culture” and “digital culture” are interpreted as integrative categories combining value-based, cognitive, and activity components of personal development. It is established that school students’ digital culture involves not only technical skills but also the formation of responsible, critical, and safe behavior in the digital environment.

The role of digital technologies in the development of students’ cognitive activity, critical thinking, and information literacy is characterized. It is determined that their systematic use in the educational process contributes to the formation of sustainable digital competencies and the development of digital culture as a component of general educational training.
