Abstract

The aim of the study is to theoretically substantiate a conceptual model of the relationship between athletes' social roles and identity as a methodological basis for designing modern social support systems based on the integration of education and digital competencies. Methods. A complex of scientific methods was used: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific literature (to study athletic identity); a systematic approach (to build the model's architecture); and the classification method (to typify athletes' adaptation profiles based on role integration). Results. It was established that a key factor of maladaptation is excessive fixation on the professional role ("athletic foreclosure"), which creates risks of social isolation. The author developed a classification of adaptation profiles (integrative, compensatory, and deficient), allowing for the prediction of resocialization success based on the combination of athletic, academic, and digital roles. An Integrated Support Model for athletes within the dual career system is substantiated, featuring a "reflexive filter" as a key element — a mechanism ensuring conscious switching between social roles. It is proven that the convergence of education and digital competencies creates a synergy where knowledge enriches the athlete's public authority, turning them into competitive specialists even before the end of their sports careers. Conclusions. The study expands the scientific understanding of the athlete's social role structure in the digital age, where media self-presentation is defined as a strategic mechanism for maintaining social resilience. The conceptual foundations of "athletic identity" are improved through its integration with dual career theory and the humanization of Olympic sports. The practical value of the work lies in creating a theoretical framework for developing structural and functional models to implement the educational potential of sports and develop soft skills within the long-term training system. The proposed approaches help mitigate the risks of identity crises and ensure a harmonious transition for athletes into professional activities after their sports careers.
