Pedagogical Potential of Humor in Forming Defence Awareness of Students at the Lessons of the Subject «Defence of Ukraine»

Abstract

The article states that humor accompanied Ukrainians in all periods of struggle: both during the Cossack campaigns and on the fronts of the 20th century, and now, during the long-term Russian-Ukrainian war. There are a significant number of sites, online platforms and network communities on the Internet, where jokes, memes and other forms of humor that respond to the events of the war are systematically distributed. These resources act as effective channels of social communication, contributing to the formation of collective resilience, maintaining morale and consolidating society, and which are advisable to use for working with students. Since humor in the process of teaching the subject «Defence of Ukraine» can act as an effective psychological and pedagogical tool that helps reduce emotional tension and increase students' resistance to stress factors of wartime. The use of appropriate humor when studying defence-related topics contributes to the formation of an emotionally stable personality capable of adequately responding to the challenges of modernity.

The purpose of the article is to identify opportunities for pedagogically appropriate use of humor in the educational process. Internet resources of the relevant profile were analyzed and a page «Cultural practices of wartime: humor, songs, memes» was created in the Repository for teachers of the subject «Defence of Ukraine» on the educational portal «ZapoViki», which contains links to sites about humor, memes and meme songs from YouTube. The emphasis is on the importance of humor as a resource for preserving humanity, developing critical thinking and forming a responsible attitude towards the defence of the state. This selection was created to facilitate the work of the teacher.

The conclusion is made about the feasibility of integrating humor into the content and teaching methodology of the subject «Defence of Ukraine» as a factor in the formation of defence consciousness, national and civic identity of students.
