Abstract

The relevance of the study is due to modern trends in the reduction of the level of motor activity of primary school children and the need to find effective means of increasing their physical fitness in the educational process. In the context of reforming the physical education system, the introduction of innovative, interactive and pedagogically appropriate forms of organizing motor activity, in particular in extracurricular time, is of particular importance. The use of elements of freestyle wrestling is considered a promising direction that combines the development of physical qualities with the formation of personal and social competencies of students.

The purpose of the article is the theoretical justification, development and experimental verification of the effectiveness of the program for the development of physical qualities of primary school children by means of freestyle wrestling in extracurricular activities.

Methods. The study used a set of complementary methods: theoretical analysis of scientific and methodological literature, pedagogical observation, pedagogical experiment, testing the level of physical fitness, conversations with students, teachers and parents, as well as methods of mathematical statistics for processing the results obtained. The empirical part covered 60 students of grades 2–4 who participated in the program for 12 weeks after school. Results. The developed program has a modular structure and involves the gradual formation of physical qualities using adapted elements of freestyle wrestling. During the experiment, positive dynamics of indicators of strength, endurance, flexibility, speed-strength and coordination abilities were established. An increase in the level of motor activity, the formation of basic technical skills and abilities, as well as an increase in motivation for physical education classes were recorded. The results of the conversations showed a positive impact of the program on the psycho-emotional state of students, the development of communication skills, discipline and responsibility, as well as improving interpersonal interaction. Conclusions. It is proven that the introduction of elements of freestyle wrestling into extracurricular activities is an effective means of developing physical qualities and socio-psychological characteristics of children of primary school age. The proposed program meets the modern requirements of physical education, ensures the integration of health-improving, educational and educational functions and can be recommended for use in the practice of secondary education institutions. Prospects for further research are associated with improving methodological support and expanding the age limits of the program.
