Abstract

The article reveals the methodology for the formation of civic and historical competencies in the content of the lessons “I explore the world” in primary school. The relevance of the topic is due to its social importance, because the formation of civic and historical competencies of students involves the effectiveness of the formation of a clear civic position, especially in the initial stage of education, the development of a culture of speech and laying the foundations for a versatile education throughout life. A high level of formation of civic and historical competencies ensures the strength of educational achievements and contributes to the harmonious, holistic development of the personality.

The purpose of the article is to identify and substantiate the stages of the methodology for the formation of civic and historical competencies of primary school students in the lessons “I explore the world” and to experimentally confirm its feasibility. Methods. The study used active learning methods: role-playing games, debates and projects, which help students not only receive information, but also apply it in practice, develop critical thinking, the ability to express their own position; interactive study of history: interactive maps, multimedia presentations and video materials enliven the learning process, make it more interesting and accessible to students; constructive initial dialogue: conversation, dispute, discussion, debate, conference, didactic and role-playing games.

Results. The study implemented three stages of the experimental methodology: information-enrichment, research-search, evaluative-creative stages of the experiment. Based on the identified criteria and indicators of their manifestation, the following levels of formation of civic and historical competencies of primary school students were determined: low, satisfactory, sufficient and high.

Conclusions. The introduction of modern methods and approaches in the lessons "I explore the world" will contribute to the education of citizens who are able to make conscious decisions and take an active part in the development of a democratic state. The use of these theoretical and practical foundations in the lessons "I explore the world" will help build a deep and purposeful educational process aimed at developing civic and historical competencies necessary for successful functioning in modern society.
